On the Second Sunday, we hear the story of Mary and Martha—Martha always doing things, while Mary sat at Jesus’ feet.  It’s common to scold Martha for being too wrapped up in work.  Or to scold people for not spending enough time sitting with Jesus.

But, let’s not scold anyone.  Because maybe God isn’t found in only serving or only sitting, but in the messy middle.  Maybe we grow closer to Christ by attending to what we need next.  Sometimes we need to sit still.  Other times we need to go and serve someone.  God is in the messy middle.
