Will you give me a drink?

Will you give me a drink?  That’s our “Honest Question for Deeper Faith” today.

In today’s Bible story, first Jesus asks that question of a Samaritan woman. Think about it: Jesus the Savior asks her to do something for him.

Later, the woman turns the question back to Jesus: Will you give me some of this “living water” you’re talking about? Her thirst is . . . complicated. At first, she doesn’t even realize she’s thirsty. Then she’s afraid of her thirst—wanting to talk about anything other than what she’s really longing for. She never completely figures out what she’s thirsty for. But what a great question: Will you give me a drink?  I invite you to bring your thirst to worship.
