In Numbers 13 Moses sent spies into the Promised Land. Some came back encouraged they could go and take the land. But the majority came back pessimistic, seeing “giants” in the land, so the people turned back. This was about one year into their journey. They wandered in the wilderness for 39 more years before trying again.
A cautious message might be: You’ve got to be ready before you do a big, hard thing. But
another message might be simply, “We can do it!”
