Last weekend, Bethel International UMC was honored at the West Ohio Conference’s GO Awards, a celebration of innovative ministries making a meaningful impact in their communities.
Churches from across the region gathered to share their work, support one another, and receive funding to further their missions. We are excited to share that Bethel International UMC was awarded three grants, each supporting a different aspect of our commitment to love, inclusion, and service.
Building Bridges: Multilingual Wayfinding Signage ($1,500)
One of the challenges in a diverse and multicultural church is ensuring that everyone feels at home. With over 150 community members attending ESL classes twice a week, as well as Korean and Nepali worship congregations, a Hispanic after-school program, and a multicultural preschool, clear and accessible signage is essential. Thanks to this $1,500 grant in the Building Bridges category, Bethel International UMC will implement multilingual wayfinding signage throughout our building, making navigation easier for all who enter our doors.
Community Engagement: ESL Classes for Women ($5,000)
Language can be a significant barrier for immigrant families, particularly for women balancing work, childcare, and daily responsibilities. This $5,000 grant in the Community Engagement category will support our English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for women, providing materials, expanding class offerings, and ensuring childcare options are available. By creating a welcoming and supportive space for learning, we hope to empower more women to navigate life with confidence and connect more deeply with their community.
Green Church: Onsite Recycling Program ($1,000)
As stewards of God’s creation, Bethel International UMC is committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The $1,000 grant in the Green Church category will fund the launch of an onsite recycling program, equipping our church with designated recycling stations, educational resources, and initiatives to encourage waste reduction. This program will help foster a culture of care for the earth among our congregation and the many organizations that share our space.
A Future Rooted in Faith and Action
The GO Awards are more than just financial support; they are a testament to the ways the Holy Spirit is moving in our communities, calling us to serve with love and innovation. These grants provide us with the tools to make a real impact—whether through a simple sign that helps someone find their way, an ESL class that empowers a woman to advocate for her family, or a recycling program that encourages sustainable practices.

Bethel International UMC is grateful for this recognition and support, and we remain dedicated to listening, serving, and stepping boldly into the work God has set before us. We look forward to seeing how these initiatives grow and how they will continue to strengthen our church and our community.
