God’s people have always missed and remembered loved ones. Loss is always hard and grief is strong.
However, as 1 Thessalonians puts it, we do not grieve as others do who have no hope. We grieve in the light of Christ that no darkness can overcome, and in the assurance that nothing in all creation—not even death—can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. We weep, we believe, and we rejoice. And through it all, Jesus holds us in love.
