Martin Luther King

Weekend Activities

Dear Bethel International Church--

We had hoped to have a day of service for Martin Luther King weekend, but COVID has closed down that possibility.  So here are some other opportunities to learn and serve this weekend, as we honor the memory of Dr. King:

  • In lieu of a community service project, find other ways to serve.  Allison Hastie has started us out with these ideas:  (1) Clean out a closet and donate clothing to the United Methodist Free Store (https://www.4allpeople.org/FreeStore).  (2) Get non-perishable food items for the BIUMC Blessing Box.  (3) Donate baby wipes or diapers to Little Bottoms (https://www.littlebottoms.org/donationsfaq). (4) Call a fellow church member who may be struggling with loneliness.  More ideas are being shared in the Bethel Members group on our Facebook page.
  • Rev. Jacqui Lewis and Anu Gupta are leading a national teach-in about how to heal America's racial caste system.  Sunday, January 17, 1:00 - 3:00 pm.  I am attending this workshop myself, along with members of BIUMC's Social Justice Team.  Information and tickets are available here:  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/caste-an-antiracism-teach-in-tickets-134659356761

Zoom with me and other church members right after the workshop at Zoom ID 820 9449 5942 to share thoughts and feelings.

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Glenn
